When we decided to launch our Women’s collection, we knew it was important to find someone who could lead the creative vision and shape our aesthetic for a new audience. After searching far and wide, we found the right person for the job — Annemiek Kessels, Creative director for MORJAS Women's.

H: Anna, we are so excited to have you on board. For those who don’t know you, tell us a bit about your background and how it has shaped your aesthetic foundation.

A: Thank you, Henrik — I’m just as excited. Since we started working together, I’ve had some of the most intense and fulfilling moments of my life. It’s incredibly stimulating to witness visions come to life.

Well, where to start? I grew up in the Netherlands but now live in Paris with my 15-week-old dog, Vivienne. I’ve been immersed in fashion in one way or another since I was 14 and started to consume fashion shows. I loved seeing how different designers expressed their opinions and “art” through clothing. It ignited something in me. It was like discovering a new language and I had never looked at clothes that way before — as elements for self-expression rather than just functional items.

So, I think my curiosity at that age planted the seeds of what my aesthetic palette is today, which has of course evolved and gotten more personal over the years. At 17, I started my fashion blog, Modedamour, and it quickly grew beyond what I could have imagined. That experience allowed me to observe the industry — and the world surrounding it — up close. Since then, fashion, interiors, art, design and all things aesthetics have been constant threads in my life.

H: I’ve followed your work for a long time and think you have a refined style, strong eye for detail and taste that aligns beautifully with MORJAS. How would you say your personal style is reflected in the new women’s collection?

A: I have a deep appreciation for timeless, feminine looks that exude quality, power and elegance. The collection reflects that through chic, refined everyday classics that elevate your entire presence.

I think it’s worth emphasizing the refined aspect because it speaks to how we’ve worked through silhouettes, materials, details, and design elements — elements that, to me, make the collection stand out in a beautiful way while still feeling inherently timeless. While it undeniably exists in the same world as the men’s line, it has its own distinct identity.

H: Your vision is shaping the entire look and feel of the lineup. I know you love them all, and it’s hard to pick a favourite child, but is there one style you think you’ll wear most?

A: Like you said — tough question, because I think all models have their own occasion. But for the past few months I’ve had two things by my side wherever I go: my Italian Greyhound, Vivienne, and The Penny Loafer. But it’s a tough call between The Penny Loafer and The Ballet Flat.

H: If you had to describe the woman you envision wearing this collection, how would you describe her?

A She’s confident in her style — not chasing trends but always feeling relevant. She values quality and timeless design while having a discerning eye for beauty, where high design integrity and strong taste matter. She invests in pieces that elevate her wardrobe for years to come.

She moves effortlessly between occasions, whether it’s a morning coffee run, a day at the office, or an evening out. More than anything, she understands that true style is about how you wear something, not just what you wear.
