The Monkey Boot's enigmatic heritage only heightens its allure, as this iconic footwear has firmly cemented its place in history. Originating in Czechoslovakia and thought to have military roots, it rose to fame in the 1960s as the go-to style for British mods. Meticulously handcrafted from durable full grain leather and designed around our lace-up last for unrivalled comfort, The Monkey Boot commands attention with its robust rubber sole and distinctive lacing that extends all the way to the toe cap.

Grained calf leather
Grained calf leather is embossed, milled full-grain leather. To enhance its look and feel, it’s carefully tumbled with heat and movement during the tannery process, resulting in a natural grain pattern with a soft, supple touch

Storm welted construction
A storm welt refers to a wider leather strip used in Goodyear welt construction. The welt is bent upwards to create a tighter seal, making it ideal for boots and footwear where protection against the elements is key.

Studded rubber sole
Studded rubber soles are commonly used in lace-ups and boots. They offer a sleek, distinctive look with rounded lugs, while providing excellent traction in slippery conditions.

Lace-up boots should fit securely and comfortably. The heel should stay in place without slipping while walking, and there should be enough room in the toe box to move your toes slightly. The sides should fit snugly without pinching, and the laces should close the gap over the instep evenly, without excessive tightness. 

After a few wears, the cork layer in the sole and the leather upper will gradually conform to the shape of your feet, providing an even better fit.

Eliminate any excess dirt with a damp soft cloth. Brush the leather outer with a high-quality shoe cream in a suitable colour, which will help to protect the leather and restore the natural oils lost during outdoor wear. Buff any excess cream with a dry cloth to achieve a natural shine. If your leather feels especially dry, use a shoe conditioner before the cream to increase longevity.

Some tips to follow, ensuring the longevity of your shoes:

1. Alternate between wears: Let your shoes rest after wear and rotate between your styles. The shoes need time to recover from the humidity produced by your feet and the outdoor elements.

2. Use shoe trees: Shoe trees will help maintain the shape and structure in between wears. Using our specially crafted cedar shoe trees will encourage the evaporation of moisture and eliminate any undesirable odors.

3. Use a shoehorn: Using a shoehorn will protect the counter ensuring your shoes maintain their proper fit and comfort.
